Last Urban Surf Race of 2013

Wednesday was the last race of the season and was almost cancelled due to a monster thunderstorm that rolled across Seattle.  At 5:30pm I was sitting at home when a flash followed by the loudest thunderclap I have ever heard, it shook the house, but all was well, the storm rolled through and I headed over to Gas Works Park on Lake Union to watch the race unfold.

It was a great turn out and a fast race from the start

Now that is what I call a pivot turn

 

The two leaders raced for the line finishing 1 and 2.  with the leader finishing with a strong gap over the second place finisher.

I took this picture on the line, what a great effort and focus.  I love the bead of sweat captured in the picture.

Time to head back to HQ for well deserved food and closure to the racing sponsored by Urban Surf in 2013
